Your privacy and the protection of your personal information is of the utmost importance to me. I do everything in my power to keep your information safe and to prevent it from being taken or used without your consent.
Here are the practices I rely on to do that:
Information I collect
I only collect information I believe will help me serve you better. I don’t use any hacks or backend technology to gather information. So if you don’t give it to me, I probably don’t know it.
Consulting and marketing clients
I need your name, business, and contact information in order to work out the details of your project and to prepare a Letter of Agreement (our contract for services) and invoices.
There’s a chance I’ll add you to my email list. But in most cases, I let you sign up on your own.
I do keep your contact information in case I need to contact you again after your project is done. But your information is never printed or shared in any way. It stays in my customer management and email files.
When you sign up for a newsletter, event or free information, I ask for your first name, last name and email. That information stays in my email provider’s database.
You will receive the product you signed up for, and may also receive my newsletter and promotions I believe you will be interested in. You may unsubscribe at any time.
I never share, rent or sell my email list.
If you purchase one of my products, I collect only the information my shopping cart requires to complete the sale.
When my shopping cart notifies me that a purchase has been made, that information includes the purchaser’s contact information. It stays in my customer management and email files. It is never printed or shared in any way.
You may be automatically subscribed to my newsletter and may unsubscribe at any time.
How I use your information
Customers, clients or subscribers
Your information is never shared, rented or sold for any purpose.
Coaching clients, colleagues
Through my network, I often hear of job opportunities or businesses looking for service providers. If I hear of an opportunity that you seem well suited for and could benefit you, I may share your email address along with the reason I believe you would be worth considering for the project/opportunity.
I always contact you in advance or copy you in the email when I share your name for these purposes.
How I use the copy or marketing materials I write for you
My Letter of Agreement has a standard clause that allows me to reference copy I write in books, presentations, and for teaching purposes. If you prefer not to include this clause, I will remove it at your request.
All information related to client projects is saved digitally on my personal computer. No one else uses this computer or has access to my files. I use appropriate security measures to keep that information private and inaccessible to anyone other than me.
I never reuse or recycle one client’s copy in another client’s projects. It is possible that I will reuse research — especially if it is well-documented research in the same industry. However, each client’s sales arguments and logic remain exclusive to his or her own projects.
Any research supplied to me by a client for the client’s own projects is kept confidential and is not re-used for another client.
I work hard to protect you from unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of information you have shared with me. In particular:
- I rely on services that encrypt their website with SSL.
- When you fill out a form on my website, you are asked to verify your email address before being added to a list.
- I review my information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against unauthorized access to information.
- I restrict access to personal information to collaborators, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it for me. These entities are subject to strict confidentiality obligations and may be terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.
