I know, I know…
We’ve been saying video is THE THING for years now. But as content marketing matures, it definitely needs to be part of your content mix.
People don’t read as much as they used to. They’re busy. And video can quickly deliver your message in a personal, engaging way.
“Engaging” is the key here.
A big percentage of people DO still prefer to read—myself included. But video can engage even die-hard readers because it shows you: your voice, your face, and your presentation style, so people feel they know you.
In an age when people don’t trust easily, when they prefer to buy from people they’ve got relationship with, nothing beats video.
And luckily for us, Marcus Sheridan has put together a video that talks about 7 types of videos you need for your business. He explains this so well and the information is so useful, I had to share.
7 Types of Videos to Round Out Your Content
Marcus is right. All of these types of video will help your business, building trust and engagement, which will lead to higher sales.
But you don’t need to rush out and create them all today. Start where you feel they’ll make the biggest mark. If you’re struggling with sign-ups, create a video for your forms. If you get a lot of questions before people are willing to buy, start with an 80% video.
Use this list as inspiration for what’s possible, so you can begin creating high-impact videos that get results.
80% video, that answers 80% of the pre-sale questions your prospects ask.
Employee bio videos, so people know the people behind the brand.
Service and product videos, because videos will always enhance your presentation.
Videos for your forms, explaining what happens when people fill out your form.
“Bad Fit” videos, describing who you don’t serve or who your products aren’t a good fit for.
Testimonial videos, with customers discussing their journey with you (not just leaving a quote).
Claims videos, backing up every claim you make about your business. Don’t just say it. Show it.
Video Equipment I Recommend
If you’re new to video, don’t worry. You can start creating videos without building a fantastic studio. Here’s what I recommend to get started.
Your smartphone. Your phone lets you create videos whenever and wherever you want. Capture on-the-go thoughts or use it in your “studio.” Either way, you’ve got a good camera in your pocket. Use it.
Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam. It’s easy to use and records a high-quality video.
Yeti Blue USB microphone. This is one of the least expensive professional mics and gives you a really good sound.
Filmora. This video editing software will let you do screen captures and webcam recordings, and then edit them like a pro. Intuitive, easy to learn, inexpensive.
No Excuses
I get it. Videos, especially talking head videos, feel a little scary, especially if you aren’t an extrovert. Once you’ve written the script, it’s tempting just to publish the text and leave it at that.
But your followers and customers want to know who you are. They like hearing your voice and seeing you deliver your message in person. Video lets them feel like they’re seeing the real you.
Don’t shy away from video. Embrace it.
And don’t think you have to look any certain way or have the right equipment. Use whatever technology you already have.
The key is to start today.
