One thing at a time…
Sounds like good advice, doesn’t it?
I recently realized something: while “one thing at a time” is good advice, it can actually slow your growth.
What’s weird is I actually thought I followed the one thing at a time model. But I’ve realized, the only times I have done it are the periods where I was starting from zero OR my life was stalling out.
One thing at a time marks my moments of no growth. No achievements worth speaking about.

TRUTH:
One thing at a time can kick off growth.
In growth mode, it can slow you down.
If you want to fast-track success, you need to get comfortable holding more than one thing in your head at a time.
That’s why you need to be conscious of your Authority Journey.
- Set your goal
- Create your map. What are the milestones?
- Now, you know your next five or ten steps, right?
You can just work on one at a time. But sometimes, more than one thing needs to happen at a time to get to your next step. And sometimes, you can be working on just one step while you’re setting up the next.
This is what I recently realized. It feels like I’m working on just one thing… but I’m not.
I’m prioritizing one thing, while laying a foundation for the next step and sometimes even the next.
This is how I make things happen quickly. I’m working 3 or 4 steps ahead all the time.
Foundations & Doors. Explain how it works.
- Never say no to a good opportunity
- As soon as you realize an opportunity won’t get you where you want to go, shut the door. It’s not an opportunity. It’s a distraction.
- Work YOUR way. If you can keep things moving one thing at a time… if that keeps you focused… do it. But if you can set things up in advance, the Foundations & Doors way, you’ll fast-track your success and accelerate your Authority Journey.
