The AI Tools I Use Daily
Before we get started, I want to answer the question I get asked most often: What AI tools do you use? These are the tools that have become essential in my daily work. They not only streamline my processes but also significantly improve the quality and efficiency of my marketing efforts.
Everyone’s heard of ChatGPT by now, and for good reason. This AI chatbot is a powerhouse for content generation and problem-solving. In the last month alone, I’ve used it to create a comprehensive marketing plan, draft engaging website copy, write articles and emails, and transform a detailed case study into a concise one-pager. I especially like that ChatGPT can remember a previous conversation. I do sometimes have to remind it of my original prompt, but for the most part, I can pick up a conversation where I left it.
When I need quick and accurate information, Perplexity is my go-to research assistant. I find it particularly useful when I’m writing articles that require specific statistics or facts. Perplexity not only finds the information quickly but also provides verifiable sources, allowing me to double-check before using the data in my content.
Claude is a good choice for writing tasks and adding a human touch to content. In my workflow, I often use Claude as the final step in the content creation process. After researching with Perplexity and drafting with ChatGPT, Claude will help me refine the tone and add a more human voice to the content. It is important to note that Claude isn’t as smart as ChatGPT or Gemini. It can forget your previous conversation (sometimes in minutes) and it isn’t a good source for research.
For complex marketing challenges that involve data crunching, Google’s Gemini is my preferred AI marketing tool. Its ability to handle multimodal tasks makes it incredibly versatile.
Interestingly, recent evaluations have shown that Gemini has surpassed OpenAI’s ChatGPT in certain benchmarks, indicating its becoming one of the smarter AI tools. Here are the details:
- Performance on Benchmarks: Gemini has demonstrated higher performance on benchmarks compared to ChatGPT-4o, which was previously considered a leading model. This suggests that Gemini’s underlying technology and algorithms have advanced significantly, allowing it to outperform its competitors in specific tests.
- Conversational Quality: Gemini is noted for its superior conversational quality, providing more engaging and natural interactions. Users have found it easier to communicate with Gemini due to its friendly tone and concise responses, which enhance comprehension and simplify communication.
- Real-Time Data Access: One of Gemini’s significant advantages is its access to real-time data. Unlike ChatGPT, which relies on its training data up to a certain point, Gemini can provide up-to-date information, making it more relevant for current event queries.
- Overall Evaluation: In head-to-head tests, Gemini has been shown to outperform ChatGPT in several areas, including coding, creative text generation, and providing concise explanations. However, ChatGPT still excels in natural language processing and ethical reasoning.
For creating presentations and visual content, Gamma has become my secret weapon. It makes the design process incredibly easy, helping me create visually appealing presentations in minutes. I recently used it to create a lead magnet for a client. Simply by copy-pasting a step-by-step process from an article I was writing, Gamma generated a beautiful three-page downloadable resource.
We’ve all struggled with finding the perfect image for our marketing materials. Ideogram solves this problem by allowing me to create unique, tailored images that perfectly suit my projects. It’s been a game-changer for me, moving beyond the limitations of stock photos and enabling me to bring my exact vision to life.
When it comes to video content creation, Wave.video is my all-in-one solution. From video editing to live streaming and hosting, it offers comprehensive capabilities that meet all our video marketing needs.
These are the tools that have revolutionized my workflow. As we explore other tools in this article, keep in mind that your best choices are the ones that save you time and enhance your marketing efforts. By incorporating these AI tools into our daily routines, we’re not just keeping up with the marketing world, we’re staying ahead of the curve.
You’re Probably Using AI More Than You Realize
Some AI tools have been in my toolbox for years. They monitor my website or send updates when articles are published on a topic I’m watching. I’ve never thought of them as AI tools because I don’t actively work with them, but they leverage AI to keep me updated and informed.
The algorithms behind Google, Facebook, and Grammarly are similar. They’ve been powered by AI for years, quietly enhancing their capabilities and user experience. Over time, AI has been integrated into most other tools as well, often without us even noticing.
For instance, Adobe Creative Cloud incorporates AI through Adobe Sensei, which enables features like auto-masking in Photoshop and automated video editing in Premiere Pro. These AI-driven enhancements save time and reduce the manual effort needed to achieve professional results.
Similarly, Microsoft Office has evolved to include AI-driven features like Editor in Word, offering advanced grammar and style suggestions, and AI-powered insights in Excel that help you make data-driven decisions with ease.
Even platforms like Canva have embraced AI, introducing features like the Magic Resize tool, which automatically adjusts your designs to fit different formats, and an AI-powered content suggestion tool that sparks new ideas for your projects.
These examples illustrate how AI has been quietly transforming the tools we rely on, making them more powerful and user-friendly. Now, we’re entering a phase of rapid AI expansion, with new, specialized AI tools emerging almost daily. While many of these tools may not stand the test of time, a few high-quality ones will likely rise to prominence. Eventually, we may see another wave of AI consolidation, where our go-to tools will continue to add features until they all begin to resemble one another under the hood.
That said, most of us are still experimenting with AI tools. Here are the tools I’ve used and/or heard reports about to help you find the ones that are right for you.
AI Tools for Content Writing
AI has turned content creation on its head. By automating idea generating, research, writing, and optimization, these tools are saving us significant time.
The concern among professionals is the quality of AI content now populating the web. Much of it combines beautifully written sentences that say nothing of value. It takes a skilled content creator to provide prompts that generate quality content. And the output still requires extensive editing. That said, here are some of the best AI tools for content creation and optimization:
Jasper AI was one of the first AI writing tools that created (somewhat) usable content. I realize now that I didn’t know how to prompt it properly, but I was never satisfied with its output. From my perspective today, you can get just as much value from a general GPT like ChatGPT or Claude, so I still question its value.
I’ve found ChatGPT or Claude incredibly versatile. They’re great for brainstorming ideas, outlining articles, and drafting full pieces. The key is in the prompting — be specific about your needs, target audience, and desired tone.
Remember, though, while these tools are powerful, they’re not infallible. Always fact-check their output and add your own expertise and personal touch to the content — especially if you’re writing SEO content.
My typical workflow involves using ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude for organizing my ideas and either assisting my writing or creating a first draft, then refining the content myself before running it through Grammarly for a final polish. This combination allows me to leverage AI capabilities while ensuring the end result is authentic and error-free.
For editing, nothing beats Grammarly. I know I’m not alone in that assessment because I’ve worked with clients who let Grammarly do all their editing.
This AI-powered writing assistant goes beyond simple spell-checking to offer comprehensive grammar, style, and tone suggestions. It’s designed to help you refine and polish your content, ensuring it’s not only error-free but also clear, engaging, and appropriate for your intended audience.
My one caveat is that it is programmed for grammar rules, not style. For example, I sometimes use parallelism for emphasis, but it flags those instances as repetitive content. As with any AI tool, human judgment is still crucial.
Video Content Creation Tools
AI-powered video creation tools are transforming the way marketers produce video content. As a result, it’s easier than ever to incorporate video into your marketing strategy — even if you don’t have extensive technical knowledge or expensive equipment. Some of the notable AI video creation tools include:
HeyGen is one of the most impressive AI video creation tools I’ve come across. It uses advanced AI to generate lifelike avatars and voices, allowing you to create professional-looking videos with virtual presenters.
This can be particularly useful for creating explainer videos, product demonstrations, or even virtual spokespersons for your brand.
Opus Clip is another tool that’s caught my attention. While I haven’t used it extensively, I’ve seen its potential for repurposing long-form video content into shorter, more engaging clips for social media. This can be a game-changer for marketers looking to maximize the reach and impact of their video content across different platforms.
In my own workflow, I frequently use Wave.video. What I love about this tool is its ability to auto-generate a video based on the copy I paste in. This feature is incredibly time-saving, especially when I need to quickly turn written content into a visually appealing video format. The AI analyzes the text and selects appropriate visuals, transitions, and even background music to match the content.
My typical process involves drafting the script or copy first, then using Wave.video to create an initial video draft. From there, I can easily customize the video by adjusting visuals, timing, and other elements to better fit my specific needs. This approach allows me to leverage the efficiency of AI while still maintaining creative control over the final product.
One thing to keep in mind with all these tools is that while they’re incredibly helpful, they’re not a complete replacement for human creativity and judgment. I always make sure to review and refine the AI-generated content to ensure it aligns with my brand voice and messaging.
AI-Powered Image Generation Tools
AI image generation tools have revolutionized the way we create visual content. They can produce a wide range of images, from photorealistic scenes to abstract illustrations, based on text prompts. Some notable AI image generation tools include:
In my experience, Ideogram has been the standout tool for AI image generation. It’s become my go-to for creating diverse visual content. What I appreciate most about Ideogram is its versatility — I can generate everything from photorealistic images to cartoonish illustrations. This flexibility is crucial for adapting to different marketing needs and brand styles.
Here’s one I especially liked:
I needed to illustrate, “You can’t polish a tennis shoe into a dress shoe” and I would never have found a stock photo for it.
When I need to illustrate a complex concept, Ideogram can help me visualize what I want. For example, I prompted it with a description of the CRO web design process and got this.
It’s not usable as-is, but it captured the idea, and I was then able to create what I needed in Canva. That said, if you get an image that works, and you only need to fix the text, you can upload the image to Canva and edit the words.
While I haven’t personally used Midjourney, I’ve heard mixed reviews. One of my clients found that the images it produces look too cartoonish for their needs. Clearly, the “right” tool depends on your specific requirements and aesthetic preferences.
Adobe Firefly is another tool that’s gaining traction. The same client who was unsatisfied with Midjourney has found success with Firefly. Given Adobe’s long-standing reputation in the creative industry, it’s not surprising that their AI tool is capable of producing high-quality, professional-looking images.
DALL-E has also garnered a lot of positive attention in the AI image generation space. It’s known for its ability to create highly imaginative and sometimes surreal images based on text prompts.
AI in Social Media Management
When it comes to social media management, AI isn’t so much creating new tools as enhancing existing ones. Many of the platforms we’ve been using for years are now integrating AI capabilities to offer more advanced features:
- Hootsuite has incorporated AI for content recommendations and optimal posting times.
- Sprout Social uses AI for social listening and sentiment analysis.
- Buffer has introduced AI-powered content suggestions.
- Later now offers AI-assisted caption writing.
From my perspective, these AI enhancements are more evolutionary than revolutionary. They’re making our existing tools smarter and more efficient rather than replacing them entirely. For instance, AI can now help with:
- Content Creation: Suggesting post ideas or even drafting captions based on your brand voice and past performance.
- Scheduling: Determining the best times to post for maximum engagement.
- Analytics: Providing deeper insights into audience behavior and content performance.
- Customer Service: Powering chatbots for quicker response times and basic query handling.
While these AI features can streamline workflows and provide valuable insights, they don’t fundamentally change the core functions of social media management. Instead, they augment our existing processes, allowing us to work more efficiently and make more data-driven decisions.
It’s worth noting that the effectiveness of these AI features often depends on the quality and quantity of data they have to work with. For larger brands with substantial social media histories, these tools can be particularly powerful. For smaller businesses or those just starting out, the AI’s suggestions might be less tailored until it has more data to learn from.
AI in Email Marketing and Automation
As with social media management tools, email marketing platforms are now incorporating AI features to enhance their existing capabilities rather than creating entirely new AI-centric tools.
I’ve had experience with a wide range of email platforms including MailChimp, AWeber, Keap, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, SendFox, HubSpot, and I currently use ConvertKit. While each platform has its focus (for instance, MailerLite for ecommerce, Keap for funnel builders, and ConvertKit for creators), under the hood, they all perform similar core functions.
Here are some ways AI is enhancing email marketing and automation:
- Subject Line Optimization: AI can analyze past performance data to suggest more engaging subject lines.
- Content Personalization: AI algorithms can help tailor email content based on subscriber behavior and preferences.
- Send Time Optimization: AI can determine the best times to send emails to individual subscribers for maximum open rates.
- Predictive Analytics: AI can forecast subscriber behavior, helping marketers make more informed decisions about their email strategies.
- Automated Segmentation: AI can dynamically segment email lists based on subscriber behavior and characteristics.
- A/B Testing: AI can run and analyze A/B tests more efficiently, providing quicker insights into what works best.

Competitive Intelligence AI Tools
AI-powered competitive intelligence tools can provide valuable insights into your competitors’ strategies, helping you make informed decisions. Here are some notable tools in this category:
I’ve had some experience with Crayon, which came highly recommended to me. While I haven’t used it extensively yet, I can see its potential and plan to incorporate it more into my workflow in the near future.
Crayon is designed to track, analyze, and act on market movements. It monitors competitors’ websites, social media, and other online sources to provide real-time updates on their activities. What impresses me about Crayon is its ability to capture and categorize a wide range of competitive intelligence data automatically. This includes changes to competitors’ pricing, product offerings, marketing campaigns, and more.
One of the features I’m looking forward to exploring more is Crayon’s battlecards. These provide quick, actionable insights about competitors that can be particularly useful for sales teams. The tool also offers customizable alerts, ensuring you don’t miss important competitive moves.
While I can’t speak from personal experience about the other tools, industry buzz suggests they’re worth considering:
Kompyte is known for its focus on digital marketing intelligence, providing insights into competitors’ SEO strategies, ad campaigns, and content marketing efforts.
Klue is praised for its ability to combine external data with internal knowledge, creating a centralized hub for competitive insights that can be easily shared across an organization.
Contify is recognized for its customizable intelligence feeds and its ability to track not just competitors but also customers, partners, and industry trends.
As with any AI tool, the key to getting value from these competitive intelligence platforms is in how you use the data they provide. While they can gather and organize vast amounts of information, it’s still up to humans to interpret this data and turn it into actionable strategies.
Predictive Analytics AI Tools
Predictive analytics is one of the most powerful applications of AI in marketing, offering businesses the ability to forecast trends, anticipate customer behavior, and make data-driven decisions. This capability has become increasingly crucial in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing market landscape.
A prime example of the power of predictive analytics comes from Levi Strauss & Co. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many retailers struggled, Levi’s leveraged predictive analytics and AI to not only navigate challenges but also grow their business. Here’s how they did it:
- Adaptive Strategy: Levi’s Strategy and AI team quickly pivoted when the pandemic disrupted their original plans. They rebuilt predictive models to focus on e-commerce and disaster forecasting, including predicting infection rates to determine store reopening strategies.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Using AI-driven demand forecasting, Levi’s improved supply chain accuracy. This approach helped mitigate disruptions, allowing for more precise inventory management, reduced markdowns, and enhanced sustainability.
- Digital Twins: Levi’s employed digital twins to improve supply chain visibility and make proactive decisions to address potential bottlenecks. This enabled better management of inventory stocks and anticipation of delays.
- Price Optimization: Contrary to the trend of slashing prices, Levi’s price elasticity models showed that consumers were willing to pay full price. This insight allowed Levi’s to avoid discounts and maintain brand strength.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: The team worked across global time zones, pooling expertise from various fields like natural disaster forecasting and epidemiology to create robust forecasting models.
The result? Levi’s maintained operations and profitability during the pandemic, positioning themselves for future growth. They even launched a machine learning and coding bootcamp to further integrate AI into their operations, aiming to train over 100 employees in AI applications for supply chain and beyond.
Several tools and platforms are making predictive analytics more accessible to marketers:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): While not exclusively a predictive analytics tool, GA4 has incorporated predictive metrics that can forecast things like churn probability and potential revenue from specific customer segments.
- Adobe Analytics: Part of the Adobe Experience Cloud, this tool offers predictive analytics capabilities, including customer churn prediction and product recommendation engines.
- SAP Analytics Cloud: This platform combines business intelligence, augmented analytics, and predictive analytics to help businesses make forward-looking decisions.
- Salesforce Einstein: An AI layer that integrates with Salesforce’s CRM, Einstein offers predictive lead scoring, forecasting, and recommendations.
- IBM Watson Studio: This platform provides tools for data scientists and analysts to build and train predictive models.
In my work with conversion optimization agencies and sales SaaS products, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable predictive analytics can be. Here are some key applications:
- Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) Prediction: By analyzing past customer behavior, businesses can predict which customers are likely to be most valuable in the long term, allowing for more targeted retention efforts.
- Churn Prediction: Identifying customers who are likely to stop using a product or service, enabling proactive retention strategies.
- Demand Forecasting: Predicting future demand for products or services, which is crucial for inventory management and resource allocation.
- Price Optimization: As in the Levi’s example, predictive analytics can help determine optimal pricing strategies based on various factors including demand, competition, and customer behavior.
- Content Performance Prediction: Forecasting how different types of content will perform with various audience segments, allowing for more effective content strategies.
The power of predictive analytics lies in its ability to turn vast amounts of historical and real-time data into actionable insights about the future. However, it’s important to remember that these tools are not crystal balls. They provide probabilities and trends based on available data, which should inform, not replace, human decision-making.
AI Tools for Customer Personalization
Customer personalization has emerged as a key strategy in modern marketing, with AI playing a crucial role in making it more effective and scalable. For example:
- Increased Conversion Rates: Personalized calls-to-action can boost conversions by up to 202% compared to generic CTAs.
- Enhanced Customer Loyalty: 45% of consumers say they’re likely to take their business elsewhere if a brand fails to offer a personalized experience.
- Reduced Acquisition Costs: Personalization can cut customer acquisition costs by as much as 50%.
- More revenue: Quickly growing companies generate 40% more revenue from personalization than their slower-growing peers.
AI-driven personalization tools work by analyzing vast amounts of customer data to deliver tailored experiences across various touchpoints. Some popular personalization platforms include:
- Dynamic Yield: Offers personalization, recommendations, and testing for web, mobile, and email.
- Optimizely: Provides web experimentation and personalization capabilities.
- Adobe Target: Part of the Adobe Experience Cloud, it offers AI-powered personalization and A/B testing.
- Evergage (now part of Salesforce): Delivers real-time personalization across digital channels.
These tools typically use machine learning algorithms to:
- Segment audiences based on behavior, preferences, and other attributes
- Predict which content or products a user is most likely to engage with
- Dynamically adjust website content, product recommendations, and email content in real-time
While the potential benefits of AI-driven personalization are significant, it may be more accessible to large companies since implementation can be complex. You also need clear privacy policies and a strategic approach to avoid the “creepy factor” that can occur with over-personalization.
