My clients almost always come to me because they need one thing. To stand out.
They’ve got a great product that solves an immediate problem. But they need help rising above the noise. They need to be at the top of the selection pool and insulated from the competition.
If you break it down, competition is the real problem for businesses today.
So today, I’m sharing the little-known strategy that I recommend to almost all my clients.
Be aware, I’m talking to businesses here, but everything I say applies equally well to professionals who are looking for a promotion or new job. Whether you’re a professional, a freelancer, or a business, this tip is for you.
If you were my client, here’s what I’d tell you…
The #1 Best Content Strategy Today
Digital marketing and social media make it easy for everyone to get in front of your prospects. That’s great if you’re a startup or newcomer to your industry. It’s not so great when you start seeing your clients choose upstarts with half your experience!
When you’re talking to a potential client, you need to establish yourself as the clear-cut authority.
That’s why, for every client, no matter what else we work on, I end up helping them write an authority book.
I’ve done it so many times now, it’s almost automatic.
With some clients, there’s enough content already published, I only have to organize it and add a few touches to turn it into a book.
With others, I’m managing the production of their content, so I plan high-value pieces that can be brought together later to create a book.
For one client, while brainstorming a funnel, I pulled together the articles she’d been publishing over the years and realized she already had enough for an impressive ebook. Before the day was over, I had the entire book laid out for her.
After so many times of doing this, you may be wondering if I promote book projects because they’re my go-to offer — like the repair technician who tells customers they need a widget because it makes him a few extra dollars every time he installs it.
Nothing could be further from the truth. My time-to-dollar compensation is actually lower for books than it is for other types of projects.
So why do I recommend them?
Because nothing works as well as a book for positioning you as THE authority in your space. Helping my clients publish an authority book with their name on it is the most strategic thing I could do for them.
It works for every type of business, too. My clients are typically in very competitive industries:
- Digital marketing
- Content marketing
- Customer support
- Sales
- Roofing
- Business opportunity
And my book strategy gets results in all of them.
That’s especially important now, when most brands are struggling with marketing and sales.
Every time I talk with a prospect, I hear the same worry and fear. One company told me their earnings are down by two-thirds. Another said he’s ready to shut down his consultancy and take a job.
Bad idea, because there’s no security there either. Thousands of workers have been laid off as companies cut expenses so they can keep their doors open.
Clearly, the priority now needs to be on establishing your authority and setting yourself up as the undisputed leader.
It’s time to write your book.

I’ve been saying this to anyone who will listen for months. But most people resist. They aren’t comfortable hiring someone, and they don’t know where to begin doing it themselves.
So for the last four months, I’ve been working furiously behind the scenes to put together a program that walks you step-by-step through my unique book-writing method.
I’m thrilled now to be able to tell you all about it in this free masterclass.
There’s no optin and no obligation.
